About Us | The Purrtastic Presents Story

I am a lifelong cat lady and have always been a creative person. When I was bored during the Covid lockdowns of 2020, trying to get back to doing something creative, and looking for a way to honour my precious cats, Peggy and Sally, it just had to be something cat related.

While trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do, and when looking at other cat themed stores, I couldn’t see any tops or mugs I liked. They all seemed to use the same slogans, used similar images or were covered in paw prints - all of which I found incredibly boring or tacky. Where was the originality? Where was the boldness? And where was the fun?

That’s when I decided to create my own range of t-shirts, hoodies and mugs for like-minded cat ladies! Hooray!

It took me many months to get my store off the ground because I had to come up with a name, design the logo, figure out how to create my own line of clothing, create all the designs, figure out how to get the clothing made and then biggest hurdle… how to make a website!

But I finally got there! I design everything in my store and would personally wear or use every item I sell.

My mission is to be the best cat-themed clothing and homeware store with bold, fun, original designs that break the traditional “cat lady” stereotype. Because I think that being a cat lady is awesome, and I want to help other cat ladies express their love of cats with humour and style.

Whether you’re a cat obsessed cat lady like me, or looking for an original gift, I’m so glad you’ve found my store!

What does "Purrtastic" mean?

It's a mix of "purr" and "fantastic"! Yay! 🐾❤️

What was Peggy and Sally's adoption story?

Back in 2005, I was eager to welcome my first cats as an adult and knew I wanted to adopt. That’s when I discovered Peggy and Sally, two litter mates up for adoption. They were in need of a new forever home after their previous elderly owner had passed away, leaving them without a family. At just four years old, these sweet fur babies had found themselves in a tough spot, and I knew immediately that they were meant to be with me.

It was love at first sight when I saw their story and adoption photos. Following a home visit from the welfare organisation and my own visit to their foster home, I was thrilled to be approved as their new cat mom. Peggy and Sally quickly became an irreplaceable part of my life, and their loving companionship inspired me to start Purrtastic Presents. Their journey from rescue cats to beloved family members now symbolises the heart and soul of my store.

Peggy and Sally's presence in my life brought so much joy, and even though they are no longer by my side, they're always in my heart and continue to inspire everything I do at Purrtastic Presents. ❤️❤️

Who is Bodhi and what was his adoption story?

After Peggy and Sally sadly passed away at 17 and 20 years old respectively, their absence left the biggest void in my life and in my heart. It was some time later that their vet reached out to me about a young cat (about 10 months old at the time) who had been abandoned at their surgery. He wasn't neutered and was really scared of men and other cats 😢 They had been looking after him for a couple of months and had gotten really attached to him but he couldn't carry on living at the practice. He needed a loving forever home. That's when they approached me to ask if I'd be interested in adopting him. I said yes without even having met him because it felt like this was meant to be. And that’s how my sweet, independent and cheeky Bodhi came into my life. ❤️

Who is Bailey and what was her adoption story?

I had been thinking about getting a sibling for Bodhi for a while and after I’d had him for about 2 years, I saw another Facebook post from the same vet where Bodhi was abandoned about 5 kittens that had been dumped outside their door on a busy road in the cold November weather - and all crammed into one cat carrier! The kittens were about 5-6 months old and I knew immediately that I wanted to give one of them a forever home. There were two black males, two tabby males and one tortie girl. I had my heart set on the tortie girl and hoped I would be chosen from the all the people who showed an interest in them. We drove down to London to spend some time with the kittens who were being cared for and socialised at our vet and the little girl just tugged at my heart strings. I was lucky enough to be selected and after she recovered from being spayed I adopted her, and that’s how my beautiful, feisty and sweet Bailey came into my life. ❤️

Quirky Cat Mom

I'm not only about cats, I love all animals!

As an animal lover, I’ve been featured in various national and international news when I led rescue efforts to help a swan that had landed on the railway tracks and then would not move from the side of the road, in a West London (UK) suburb, where I lived at the time.

I documented the whole situation from when I first spotted the swan on the tracks to when I managed to organise a volunteer from a wildlife bird rescue organisation to come out on a freezing January night to take him to their sanctuary. He was checked out and released back to the Thames river a few days later.

My Twitter posts were picked up by the media and my story, photos and videos were used by many international news agencies, some of which included:
